Company Profile
Company Overview
As the 1980's arrived, both urban and rural hospitals across America were being acquired by for-profit corporations. While Hamilton was able to preserve its cherished not-for-profit community-hospital status, it was vulnerable to future challenges to its autonomy and to changes in federal policy that were reshaping the health care field. The trustees of the Authority felt the hospital needed a well-conceived strategic plan to thrive in a competitive and unpredictable environment and hired a consulting firm to undertake a long-range study. It evaluated the hospital's strengths and weaknesses, assessed the needs of the three-county service area and formulated a plan to guide the hospital through the turbulent '80s.
"Hamilton was to move from being a local hospital confined to services within its walls to a regional healthy system that provide a broad continuum of care.
Today, Hamilton Health Care System is a comprehensive, nonprofit health care system that serves as the parent corporation for nine affiliate organizations.
